Make sure to contact support@avantlink.com before setting this up. There is a small setting on our backend we have to enable.
Parallel tracking is an alternative to traditional click tracking offered by Google.
With Parallel Tracking enabled, the affiliate will need to add some specific parameters to the Final URL and the Tracking template in order to maintain AvantLink’s tracking integrity.
Final URL – The affiliate can put the merchant’s URL as the Final URL. They should add a parameter, avad=[website_id]_gclid_{gclid} replacing [website_id] with their actual website id. So for example, if my website id is 555 and I want to send traffic to https://www.rei.com, my Final URL parameter would be https://www.rei.com/?avad=555_gclid_{gclid} (https://www.rei.com/?avad=555_gclid_%7bgclid%7d) . Why all the extra information? This allows us to leave the current AvantMetrics tracking and reporting functionality unchanged, as well as most of our existing order tracking functionality, while still tracking properly with Google Parallel Tracking.
Tracking template – The regular affiliate link can go in the tracking template, with one extra parameter added, similar to the Final URL. All that needs to be added to the tracking template is &gclid={gclid}. So in the example above, if my website id is 555 and I’m using a custom link for rei.com, my tracking template would be https://www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&pw=555&mi=10248&gclid={gclid} (https://www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&pw=555&mi=10248&gclid=%7bgclid%7d) .
