Affiliate Application: Traditional Website Verification Process

Now that you have submitted your affiliate application, the next step is to verify your ownership of the website.  It you applied with a social media   

The verification methods are listed below: 

 
AUTOMATED JAVASCRIPT VERIFICATION PROCESS  

An affiliate application can be confirmed by placing a JavaScript call on the homepage of your website and then letting AvantLink verify that the script has been placed on the page. As soon as that step is complete you may remove the line of JavaScript - you won't need it again. The exact procedure for using the JavaScript placement verification is as follows:

  • Copy the JavaScript from the first link in the instruction email AvantLink sent to you.

  • The JavaScript can be placed in one of the following places:

    • Locate your homepage. This is probably named "index.html" or "index.php" in your web root directory (likely to be named "public_html"). You may need to check with your host to determine what file this is. Paste the JavaScript anywhere in that file and save the file to your web server.
    • Paste the JavaScript anywhere within the template that is used on the homepage of your site. This is especially useful if your website is a blog. If your website is a blog, you may also place the JavaScript within a post that will be shown in full on the homepage. Please leave the script in place until AvantLink is able to verify that it is there.
  • Browse to the second URL found in the instruction email AvantLink sent to you to verify the placement of the JavaScript.

  • If your application confirmation was successful, you can delete the JavaScript from your homepage or template.


MANUAL VERIFICATION

If you are using a website template builder, Wix, Gatorhost, Squarespace, Blogger, etc., manual ownership authentication may be required. Please be sure all contact forms are functional. For manual confirmation, the AvantLink Affiliate Applications team (AffiliateApps@Avantlink.com) can contact you directly through your website's contact form. If you do not have a contact form set up AvantLink may attempt to contact you through any associated social channels tied to your website. If we cannot find a way to manually authenticate, it is likely you will be denied.

 

HOSTED WEB SERVICES/CMS SITES

WordPress: WordPress is the most popular 'do it yourself' website editor. In order to get the JavaScript verification script integrated, you have to write a blog entry, select "Text" instead of "Visual" editing, and then use the ``<code>`` and ``</code>`` tags to surround the script. That way it will not be visible, but the confirmation script (which searches for the embedded script) would then be able to find it. If you have any issues, please email AffiliateApps@Avantlink.com to make them aware, and they will review.

Wix, Gatorhost, Blogger, ColdFusion, SquareSpace, Adobe Muse, etc: There may be special steps you need to take to allow integration of custom script. Sometimes it's as easy as selecting a "custom HTML" block. Please do a search for how this can be accomplished on your platform.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT VERIFICATION

(Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, Discord, etc.)

ONLY use this method on the social page YOU APPLIED WITH-this is NOT an authentication method for a traditional website and there is no need to authenticate social pages you have not applied with.

  1. Place #AvantLink or #your application id number - (for example #204322) on your profile or about section.
  2. Email AffiliateApps@AvantLink.com the following:
    1. a link to the exact page where you placed the hashtag.
    2. email correspondence verifying your invitation if you've been asked to join.
    3. your application Id number.
  3. An approval or denial email will be sent to the email address you applied with after we thoroughly review your application. 
  4. Remove the hashtag after you receive our response.

Once your site is verified, AvantLink’s Applications Team will review your application again to ensure that you are a good fit for the network. Please be patient, as the AvantLink Affiliate Applications team manually reviews each application, and it may take a week or longer!
